Congregation Beth Shalom’s CLUSY

Our USY and Kadima chapters have many fabulous activities planned for the year and provides our young people the opportunity to meet new friends and learn new skills; it provides avenues for individual growth, education and enrichment, and offers our young people the chance to perform mitzvot /community service. We have a new youth advisor – Amy Simon Gross and are excited to watch our youth groups flourish under her supervision and support!

We are getting ready for another amazing year for Beth Shalom’s CLUSY chapter. Below is information about all the groups that we have to offer. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Youth Advisor, Amy Simon Gross, at  clusyinfo@gmail.com or David Siegel, USY Chapter President at dbone96@gmail.com. CLUSY is on Facebook too!

Kadima

Kadima is our middle school age group affiliate of the United Synagogue Youth organization, as well as The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Kadima is Hebrew for “forward.” Our Kadima program is for children in grades 6 through 8 and meets once a month, typically on a Sunday, and there are combined events with USY as well throughout the year. We do lots of fun things including games, sports, cooking, etc. Kadima is designed to incorporate creative and fun programming that provides an environment where the children can bond with other Jewish teens of like age. The program also enables an atmosphere that will excite the youth to eventually become involved in our USY programs when they enter High School.

USY

USY (United Synagogue Youth) is for young adults in grades 9 through 12 and meets twice a month, on either a Tuesday or Thursday evening. The programs involve social action, religion and purely social activities. There are sub-regional, regional and international conventions. There are also sub-regional events such as dances during the year. USY is also focused on building strong young leaders. Being an active participant in the program will help gain leadership training, networking abilities, event planning skills, and Judaic knowledge to empower each member to achieve their goals!

Youth Commission

Parents are invited to join the Beth Shalom Youth Commission. The Commission represents the needs of the Youth Department within the Synagogue. It is a very important bridge between the Youth Department and Synagogue. If you are interested, please let us know!
